Relaxation
Prepping for a project has many elements. Extra strings, sticks, heads, picks yada yada yada. But the reality is that it is so much more. Know your material forward and backwards. Know what you are looking for out of your project by putting thought into it. understand the layout of the album order for the greatest impact! Track 1 should be the attention getter!
Vision is having all of the inner working details of building your preparedness for the recording. Have systems in place for your practice sessions that achieve the working elements of a consistent performance. This will go a long distance in all your musical endeavors!
Everyone should have plenty of rest before a session, as they are a little different than just practicing at the rehearsal area. Depending on your skills, attention span and consistent replication of all music parts may put you into re-tracking parts over and over again until the part is correct, which can create an unpleasant feeling.
WATER!!!!! People simply do NOT drink enough water! This helps your brain, (guitar fingers and drum fingers and bass fingers) muscle tissue and overall wellness. Did you know that your body is made up of over 80% water? Did you know that you perspire all of the time? Saved the big one for last.....Did you know that simple math can become a problem if you lose just 2% of body water?
"Sooooo, I know why you cant hit those licks....ahem". LOL
Relax! Now that the consult is over and your know what to expect in the session, you are prepared with your material, the rest is just a cakewalk! The session from pre to post production is going to be a lasting memory of good times! Go rest!
All the best!,
Michael
